This night is dedicated to the children. Your son and daughters can be signed up for Little Mr. & Miss Oktemberfest, the kids can run in the children's fun run and everyone can power up with the food vendors that have all the goodies you want.
Kids Night:
The focus is on fitness, fun and family on Thursday night as Kids are Oktemberfest’s special guests!
Activities begin at 5 p.m. and are staggered throughout the evening in attempt to get young students home a little earlier on a school night.
The Carnival runs from 5:00 pm - 10:00 pm.
The Kids Fun Run is one of the headline events for the active crowd. Registered runners receive a race T-Shirt, a medal of participation and a refreshing drink for the $6.00 entry fee. Families with four or more children pay a $20.00 maximum. Pre-registration is encouraged; however race day entries are accepted between 5:15 and 5:45 as long as the limit has not been met.
The first group of ¼ mile runners will line up at approximately 6:00 to race instructions. Following will be the ½ mile runners around 6:30 and the mile runners beginning shortly thereafter. Races may be split into two groups depending upon the number of runners signed up for each race length. ¼ mile runners will run a half lap, ½ mile runners will run a full lap and the older runners will complete two laps to make 1 mile race complete.
Kids Night also includes Big Wheel races! Big Wheel races will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Main St. Official Big Wheels will be provided. No charge to participate, however you must register at the race table.
Kingdom Klowns will greet and entertain kids of all ages from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Thursday night and again from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. on Saturday the 27th.
It may not be the Miss America pageant or Mr. Universe, but the smiles will be just as big when the crowns are placed on the head of the lucky girl and boy during the Little Miss and Mr. Oktemberfest coronation, with flowers courtesy of Renner’s Flowers. Little Miss and Mr. Oktemberfest is open to area first and second graders. Registration will be held by the steps of the courthouse from 5:15 until 5:45 with the crowning to begin at 6:00. All registrants must be able to ride in the Saturday morning parade if chosen. Little Miss & Mr. will be chosen by a random drawing in front of friends and family on the courthouse stage. The 2009 Little Mr. Oktemberfest will receive the use of a tuxedo for the parade courtesy of Mary Catherine’s and Little Miss Oktemberfest will shop for a parade outfit courtesy of Younkers.And much, much more!
